THE FESTIVAL OF REMEMBRANCE PERFORMANCE STATEMENT
11-11-2008
The band of The RAF - Squadronaires who invited Russell to perform one of their favourite songs ' That's Life' , were so impressed by his performance at the Remembrance Day Festival at The Royal Albert Hall on Saturday night, that they have asked him to sing with them again.
Backstage after Russell's performance he was mobbed and duly signed autographs and had pictures taken with some of the service men and women, during which he was requested by a group of the Wrens as to whether he would be their Forces Pin -Up - of course, he gracefully accepted!
Russell found the whole experience on Saturday very humbling , " the RAF - squadronaires sounded amazing , so authentic , I felt so proud to be singing with such a fine group of human beings , let alone great musicians! " . He went on to say " I was incredibly proud to have been invited to perform one of their songs of choice at this most prestigious event ".
He now feels compelled to do more for the people who risk so much for their country, so much so, that he will be making himself available in 2009 to perform for the forces overseas. Russell is also donating tickets for his UK Tour to the Royal British Legion.
